These riots since the 9th of July, which are still continuing in many areas, are being described as “the worst” and “most destructive” in the history of South Africa. 8 Factories, 11 warehouses, 200 shopping mall complexes, 161 liquor stores and 50 schools in KZN have been looted and torched. Devastation The eThekwini municipality in KwaZulu/Natal calculates that the damage to infrastructure, property and equipment in their municipality alone exceeds 15 Billion Rand. They also noted that 150,000 jobs have been lost in their community and municipality alone. 40,000 businesses have been impacted, most of whom may never recover. Additionally 50,000 informal traders have lost their livelihoods and 1.5 million people have lost their potential to earn an income. Pharmacies Looted The South Africa Pharmacy Council reports that 90 pharmacies have been destroyed and looted beyond recovery which has led to the closing of all Clicks and Dis-Chem Pharmacies in KZN. Entire fridges full of insulin and other medicines were looted from these pharmacies as well. Not only have all the shelves in these pharmacies been looted, but even the pharmacy computers, with entire patient record databases lost as a result. Now tens of thousands of patients will need to make appointments with their doctors to have new prescriptions issued for their chronic medication requirements. Communications Towers Put Out of Action The Independent Communications Authority reports 113 cell phone towers vandalized. Arson The South African Canegrowers Association reports over 353,000 tonnes of sugar cane lost to arson. This amounts to more than R211 Million in lost revenue. This destruction in the middle of harvesting season has caused “irrecoverable losses to canegrowers and workers.” Anarchy The chief executive of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) calculates that shopping malls and retail outlets in KZN and Gauteng have suffered in excess of 20 Billion Rands worth of damage in the last ten days. Mob Intimidates Police and Fire Brigade On Sunday, 18 July, at Hammarsdale in KZN, a Cold Storage facility was set on fire. Mobs then deterred the police from escorting the fire brigade engines responding to the fire. Stone throwers then forced the fire brigade to flee – while the Hammarsdale fire continued to rage. Destroying Investor Confidence Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) have stated that the economic damage caused by the anarchic actions will be long lasting and be felt across the board. “The result in the loss of jobs because of businesses not having the confidence to continue operating will exacerbate an already high unemployment rate. These events are being reported on globally … resulting in significant loss of confidence in our country as an investment destination, at a time when we are competing with more positive destinations in different parts of the world.” BUSA calculates that SASRIA, the state-owned insurance company, does not have the resources to compensate business owners for the over R12 Billion in claims. This will lead to massive shutdowns and increased unemployment. More Destructive Than War Economist Mike Schussler has noted that the financial losses for South Africa will be far more than the billions of rands of destroyed property and looted products. The looting of over 200 shopping malls and tens of thousands of businesses and the blocking of national highways will have a severe impact on distribution and will severely affect business and consumer confidence in South Africa, leading to further devaluation of the rand currency and massive, long-lasting harm to the country’s economy as a whole. Loss of Life Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported that the prevention of the provision of essential healthcare delivery by blocking patients, medical staff and critical supplies from reaching medical facilities will cost even more lives. Hospital Targeted Police Minister Bheki Cele claimed that South African law enforcement agencies intelligence gathering averted the burning of a hospital full of patients in Durban. Ministry of Defence Caught Napping The Minister of Defence, Mapisa-Nqakula, stated that these riots have been “a learning curve” and that they were caught with their pants down. The minister of defence claimed that “It never occurred to us that we should move to areas such as malls. When the deployment of soldiers started, it focused on national key points…oil refineries and at airports.” She said that the government had not expected people to attack malls and hence there were no soldiers in the shopping centres. “Private Security Companies are Responsible to Protect Businesses - Not the State!” The Minister of Defence stated that it was primarily the responsible of private security companies to protect businesses and shopping malls. She described the private security companies as “well armed and well organized and in the main responsible for security in securing private properties and businesses.” This is significant as the ANC government is trying to pass a firearm control act to disarm private citizens! The South African Police Service publicly expressed their appreciation for the role played by private security companies in protecting lives and property. Military Mobilised to Counter Economic Sabotage and Terrorism All South African National Defence Force reserves have been called up to deal with the widespread economic sabotage and domestic terrorism. Murder and Marxist Mayhem The official death toll has risen to over 200. At Ndofawa Mall in Meadowlands, Soweto, ten people died in a stampede of looting. Police in KwaZulu/Natal were investigating 91 cases, including 14 of murder. In Gauteng, police were investigating 19 murders and 26 inquests. The police stated that most of the inquest dockets were relating to people trampled to death in stampedes during the looting of shops and malls while other deaths and injuries were related to ATM bank machine explosions and shootings. Looters Released from Police Custody The Democratic Alliance in KZN has complained to the provincial SAPS commissioner concerning reports that suspected looters arrested in the province had been released without charge due to “shortage of food” at the Pinetown Police Station! Community Radio Stations Attacked Community radio stations have also been attacked and looted. Sipho Motau, operations manager for MamsFM in Mamelodi reported that all their offices were vandalized, including the broadcasting studios, the computers, microphones and laptops stolen. The transmitter was also damaged and broken to the ground. Banks and Automatic Teller Machines Ransacked Mike Brown, CEO of Nedbank, reported damage to 50 branches of Nedbank and 300 Nedbank ATMs attacked. Half of all Nedbank branches in the country have been closed. 1,400 Automatic Teller Machines were damaged by looters. 300 Banks and Post Offices were vandalised. Catastrophic Collapse of Investor Confidence Mr. Brown pointed out that the damage to investor confidence caused by such criminal destruction of property will be catastrophic. “The damage is much more on our ability to attract investment over the longer term, either externally or internally. If people do not have the security of the rule of law as a foundation, they simply will not take the risk and rightly so….The riots have come at a time when the country can least afford it.” Xenophobic Attacks on Foreigners The Minister of State Security, Ayanda Dlodlo, reported that her department was looking into the xenophobic attacks on foreigners whose businesses seemed to be a particular focus of rioters and looters. Anne Michaels from the Africa Diaspora Forum (ADF) said that migrants were a particular focus of the rioters in Hillbrow and Malvern. She reported that all she could do was advise them to protect themselves, since the police were unable to. Orchestrated Domestic Terrorism ADF spokesman, Amir Sheikh, described what they were facing as “This is domestic terrorism. I don’t believe this thing is sporadic because it is well executed and well-funded.” Former Senior Members of State Security Alleged to be Involved Independent Data Surveillance expert, Murray Hunter, has reported the involvement of senior ex-state security agents aligned to former president Jacob Zuma. State Security minister, Ayanda Dlodlo, confirmed to journalists that the agency is investigating information about the alleged involvement of senior ex-agents aligned to former president Jacob Zuma. Police minister, Bheki Cele, reported that several names of former intelligent operatives had come up as instigating the riots and looting. They were working to arrest those responsible for planning the wide spread “protest actions.” Were the Riots Orchestrated? Reportedly the riots have so far claimed over 200 lives and over 3,000 people have been arrested. Numerous investigators are claiming that there is evidence that the violence was part of the carefully orchestrated plan being executed by senior security operatives tied to former president Jacob Zuma. The Defend our Democracy Campaign claims that the beneficiaries of state capture corruption played their ultimate card by orchestrating the riots as a smokescreen to enable them to keep their ill-gotten Billions stolen from the taxpayers. Economic Sabotage Electricity and water infrastructure had come under attack. Communication infrastructure had been damaged and life lines for distribution of goods and services, such as the N3 and N2 had been blocked. NGOs Caring for the Poor Devastated FoodForward SA has reported that their main warehouse in KwaZulu Natal had been looted and vandalized on Wednesday, forcing it to shut down operations. FoodForward SA supplies more than 4 million meals a month to the poor through over 1,200 NGOs. The ransacking and vandalizing of its main warehouse in KZN have left them with no stock and forced its closure. Managing director, Andy Du Plessis, reported that as it was the poorest of the poor who relied on meals from the NGOs that they supply, it is the poorest of the poor who will suffer. “Many rely on meals from us.” FoodForward SA has also suspended its operations in Johannesburg out of concern for the safety of their staff members. Clearly Orchestrated Plan of Sabotage Deputy Minister of State Security, Zizi Kodwa, says that the riots and looting have been a clear orchestrated plan of economic sabotage. “We have been following up in terms of domestic stability, the intelligence has been on a roll. The plot was big. Part of targeting malls is part of agitating for what is called popular revolt so that people at the end of the day abuse and exploit the socio-economic conditions which at the end of the day, those who loot do not understand the bigger plan.” Failure of Government Leads to Local Initiatives In the face of such wide spread failure of government and of the criminal justice system, numerous communities have organized to protect their lives and livelihoods. Others have mobilized volunteers to clean up the mess and help rebuild their devastated communities. Resilience South Africans have had to be resilient and resourceful to operate under a bewildering array of BBBEE Affirmative Action race quota regulations, with regular scheduled power failures, interruption of plumbing services and erratic (and often irrational) lockdown lunacy regulations stifling and strangling businesses and industries. Failed State Leads to Secession Movements With South Africa becoming more of a failed state, secession movements, such as CapeXit, are growing in popularity and support. Respect for life and property and for the rule of law is absolutely essential for any society. Lawlessness is a recipe for the destruction of any economy. The first duty of government is to protect life and property and ensure respect for law and order. Indoctrination and Entitlement Propaganda The recent devastating riots and looting spree highlights the consequences of decades of secular humanist, situation ethics indoctrination in state schools, the results of officially promoted sense of entitlement and a highly irresponsible news media which has persistently described violent riots as “protests” along with glamourizing rioters and terrorists who targeted civilians with bombs and stoned motorists with rocks and concrete slabs. It also shows the inevitable consequences of the Marxist Critical Race Theory propaganda to incite a victim mentality that justifies blatant theft, brazen looting and malicious damage to property. The Failure of Churches Chaos ensues when the church becomes “non-essential.” It is long over-due for churches to recognize that no politicians have the right to describe their ministry as “non-essential.” The lockdown lunacy which deemed abortion clinics and casinos as essential but church services as non-essential cannot be accepted. The chaos and destruction hitting so much of South Africa today is not only a result of state policy and in the failure of the criminal justice system to punish lawbreakers. It is also an indictment on those thousands of churches that have accepted what corrupt politicians have told them – that they are “non-essential.” True Churches are Essential Any church which believes that fulfilling the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ is non-essential, has probably become non-essential. It is absolutely essential that churches wake up, open up, stand up, step out in faith and speak up, fighting the good fight of Faith. An Urgent Call to Prayer and Action We need to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. The Great Commission must be out supreme ambition. We need to be salt and light in a dark and corrupt society. We need to love our neighbour and do to others as we would want to be done unto. Never has the message of our Lord Jesus Christ been more important and urgent than now. Make a Difference We need to have our minds renewed so that we will not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Let us build dynamic congregations, home Bible study fellowships and Christian Action groups that can make a positive difference in each community. We are either part of the solution or we are part of the problem! “Who will rise up for Me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for Me against the workers of iniquity?” Psalm 94:16 Dr. Peter Hammond Frontline Fellowship P.O. On Sunday morning, 18 April, at 8:45 am, the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services responded to a “vegetation fire” above the M3 motorway at Hospital Bend, opposite the famous Groote Schuur Hospital (where the world’s first heart transplant was performed). Rhodes Memorial Engulfed in Flames At first, it was windless and the fire looked containable. However, over the next three hours, the bush fire spread across the slopes of Devils Peak to Rhodes Memorial and from there towards the Rondebosch Upper Campus of University of Cape Town (UCT). The Rhodes Memorial Tea Garden and Restaurant went up in a fire ball as its gas canisters exploded. The Oldest Windmill in the Southern Hemisphere Burned The historic Mostert Mill, the oldest windmill in the Southern hemisphere, dating back to 1796, was burned when the fire jumped the M3 motorway. This historic windmill was repaired and donated to the people of the Cape over 120 years ago by Cecil John Rhodes. Two thatched house dwellings in Rosebank were also severely damaged as the fire spread from Mostert’s Mill to adjacent homes. University Library and Buildings Go Up in Flames Incredibly, six education buildings in the centre of the University of Cape Town were severely damaged by fire, even though these are stone buildings located in the middle of the campus and quite some distance from the veld fire. Darkness at Midday The midday sun was almost obliterated by the massive clouds of smoke. Great clouds of soot and ash fell throughout Rondebosch, including on our Mission grounds as people rushed to close windows and doors, to keep the smoke and ash out. Helicopters Waterbomb the Fire It was like a war zone with great clouds of smoke and the regular sounds of helicopters flying above. Huey helicopters from the Wildfire Services in Newlands Forest flew repeatedly overhead, each carrying buckets of a thousand litres of water at a time, to water bomb the inferno raging on the slopes of Devil’s Peak. Fire Fighters Struggle to Contain the Inferno By late on Sunday night, more than 250 fire fighters from the City of Cape Town, Table Mountain National Park (TMNP), Working on Fire and the Volunteer Wildfire Services were struggling to contain the inferno, which was described as: “out of control.” Arsonist Arrested At 8:10 pm, a suspected arsonist was apprehended by a man and his children walking their dogs. Of the three suspects seen starting a new blaze above Vredehoek, on the other side of the mountain, one 35-year-old man was taken into custody, but the two other suspects managed to evade arrest. Homes Evacuated in the Middle of the Night At 2 am, on Monday, 19 April, gale force winds picked up and Vredehoek residents in the line of the approaching fire were ordered to evacuate. Hundreds of residents began pouring out of their homes in the early hours of the morning, with children, pets and belongings, Disaster Risk Management staff and volunteers evacuated several streets in the suburb on the slopes of Devils Peak, including the Disa Park Towers and all nearby schools. Reportedly, eleven schools in the area were closed due to concerns for smoke inhalation. 255 Fire fighters worked through the night to restrain the raging wildfires. The Vredehoek fire was contained by 2:30 pm on Monday afternoon. Casualties Hospitalised Nine civilians were hospitalised for smoke inhalation. Six fire fighters were injured in the line of duty. Approximately 600 hectares of wilderness were devastated by the wildfire. Helicopters Grounded by High Winds High winds on Monday prevented the helicopters from being mobilised in the area. By Monday afternoon, at 3:30 pm, the fire had wrapped around the North face of Devils Peak and was racing towards Tafelberg Road on the slopes of Table Mountain. Fire crews were mobilised to suppress this new fire threat. As Winds Died Down the Helicopters were Mobilised Again On day 3, Tuesday, 20 April, the winds had slowed, leaving the city of Cape Town shrouded in smoke. The sounds of helicopter engines and whirring blades overhead continued throughout Tuesday as the South African Air Force added more helicopters to assist the Wildfire Services Hueys in water bombing the blaze. By the end of Tuesday, the Fire Department announced the fires largely contained, but the danger of smouldering fires re-erupting still needed attention. Jagger Library Gutted by Fire The full cost of this devastating inferno is yet to be calculated. It includes the Jagger Library in the centre of the University of Cape Town. Jagger Library contained 1.2 million volumes, including priceless and irreplaceable collections, including the majority of Architect Herbert Baker’s archives. Fire doors did come down to protect sections of the library, but hundreds of thousands of books were lost in the inferno. This included the vast majority of the African Study Published Print Collection (approximately 70,000 items) and the entire Africa Study Film Collection on DVD (about 3,500 items). Questions of how the bushfire could have reached stone buildings in the middle of the campus are yet to be answered. Environmentalists Reveal that Government Authorities Ignored Repeated Warnings Nicky Schmidt of the Environmental Group Parkscape, has declared that the authorities were repeatedly warned about the fire risk in Cape Town. Parkscape has claimed that mismanagement of the Table Mountain National Park put lives and property in unwarranted danger. Parkscape, Table Mountain Watch, Friends of Table Mountain and other environmental groups have repeatedly warned of the danger of tolerating approximately 100 vagrants living in the National Park and the risks of the illegal fires on mountain slopes which were laden with alien vegetation. Nicky Schmidt observed: “The slopes where the fire started is littered with pine trunks and stumps, tinder dried just waiting to go up in flames.” Andre van Schalkwyk of Table Mountain Watch said: “We have alerted SAN Parks to incidents on countless occasions,” with very little action resulting. Andy Davies of Friends of Table Mountain reported that they: “Repeatedly complained about vagrant fires, but it appears no action is taken.” Students Housed in Hotels Demand Holiday from Study and Trauma Counselling 4,000 students were evacuated from the UCT Upper Campus residences and free accommodation was arranged by the universities in hotels around the city. Incredibly, student activists at the University of Cape Town were, from the first day, demanding that all semester assignments, tests and lectures be suspended and that all students be provided with “trauma counselling.” UCT Vice Chancellor, Mamokgethi Phakeng, in a letter to students, confirmed: “No classes, tutorials, laboratory work or tests will take place throughout the week.” Entitlement Mentality Considering that the University of Cape Town appeared to have borne the brunt of fire damage to buildings, it seemed amazing that they were not being mobilised to protect the library, stop the fire, help repair the damage, clean up, fix what could be fixed and rebuild what needs to be rebuilt. It is a sad commentary on the selfish, helpless, self-centred mentality produced by an entertainment and entitlement culture that so many healthy young people did not feel a sense of duty to respond to the crisis by seeking to be part of the solution, instead of being part of the problem. Irresponsible Incendiary Incitements to Arson Incredibly, some irresponsible individuals made incendiary comments on social media, commenting on: “The Newlands Fire in Cape Town,” Mongameli Xhotyeni posted: “Every white man’s house is destroyed, it’s a pay back.” And “This fire hit the white people at last. Leave my country.” “Let it Burn. Assist with Petrol and Paraffin to Make Sure” Zanokuhle tweeted: “Rhodes Memorial must burn to the ground. This is not just a fire, but a cleansing process. Colonial rot has no place in society. Let it burn. Students must assist with petrol and paraffin to make sure.” “UCT Students Must Assist the Fire by Adding Petrol. Rhodes Memorial Must Burn” Zanokuhle also retweeted SRC Secretary General UWC: “Let it burn to the ground.” Shortly thereafter Zanokuhle tweeted: “UCT students must assist the fire by adding petrol. Rhodes Memorial must burn to the ground. Ashes to ashes.” 18 April Marxist Revolutionary Holiday in Zimbabwe It may be relevant that 18 April is marked in Zimbabwe as a public holiday for what they call their Marxist Revolution. Dictator Robert Mugabe came to power, 18 April 1980. Community Compassion By way of contrast, many Capetonians have responded valiantly by donating generous quantities of supplies to fire fighters and other emergency service personnel and the SPCA has mobilised rescues of wildlife whose habitat has been devastated. Every crisis includes both danger and opportunity. “…See how great a forest a little fire kindles!” James 3:5 Prayer and Action Needed Please continue to pray for all in Cape Town affected by this devastating inferno. Practical projects are being planned and mobilised, including Friends of Rhodes Memorial who are planning to clean up the monument which was engulfed by the wildfire. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2
Dr. Peter Hammond Frontline Fellowship P.O. Box 74 Newlands 7725 Cape Town South Africa Tel: 021-689-4480 [email protected] www.FrontlineMissionSA.org The Constitutional Court of Austria Recognised Mail-In Ballot Fraud On 22 May 2016, Presidential elections were held in Austria, which resulted in the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) bringing a 152-page Appeal to the Constitutional Court. The case claimed that over 500,000 ballots were invalid. Non-citizens and minors had been allowed to vote and irregularities, particularly with absentee ballots, significantly affected the outcome. Since the Freedom Party presidential candidate Norbert Hofer had lost to the Socialist Van der Bellen by a mere 30,863 votes, the court found that more than twice that number had been affected by breaches in the Electoral Code. The Constitutional Court of Austria ordered that the Presidential Election Second Round, be held again. The court statement declared: “It is completely clear to the Constitutional Court that laws regulating an Election must be rigorously applied… this must rule out abuse and manipulations.” Voter Fraud in America Voter fraud and election rigging is notoriously prevalent throughout Africa, but for some reason people in America often seem skeptical and naïve about fraud in their own elections. The Heritage Foundation found more than 1,000 instances of documented voter fraud in the United States over the last 20 years. Vote Fraud Revelations by a Whistleblower The New York Post published “Confessions of a Voter Fraud: I was a Master at Fixing Mail-in Ballots,” by John Levine, published 29 August 2020. The whistleblower described himself as a “political insider” and “A Bernie Sanders Democrat die-hard,” revealed, “There is no race in New Jersey - from City Council to United States Senate - that we haven’t worked on.” This operative declared that voter fraud, with mail-in ballots, is no myth, he knows this because he has been doing it, on a grand scale, for decades. The whistleblower, whose identity, rap sheet and long history working as a consultant to various campaigns were confirmed by The Post claimed that he not only changed ballots himself, but led teams of fraudsters and mentored at least 20 operatives in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Methods to Manipulate Mail-In Ballots He and his operatives fanned out, going house-to-house, convincing voters to let them mail completed ballots on their behalf, as a public service. They would then take the sealed envelopes home, hold them over boiling water to loosen the glue, remove the real ballot, place the counterfeit ballot inside the signed certificate, then reseal the envelope. He reported that sometimes postal employees were in on the scam and filled-out ballots which came from Republican strongholds were just thrown into the garbage. In 2017 hundreds of mail-in ballots in New York City never arrived to the Board of Elections as these baskets of mail were put to one side at the Brooklyn processing facility, until the election was over. Targeting Retirement Homes Mail-in fraudsters particularly target assisted-living facilities, by “helping” the elderly fill out their absentee ballots. “Nursing homes are a gold mine for votes,” he declared, as are the inactive, or deceased, voter. Democrats would also routinely buy votes from homeless shelters, literally paying people to register and vote the way they dictated. Organisationally, the whistleblower said that their voter-fraud schemes resembled Mafia organizations, with the campaign manager controlling fraudsters to harvest voter details and stuff ballot boxes. He noted that normally the actual candidate would be kept in the dark, so that they could maintain “plausible deniability.” Various states sent out an unprecedented 80 million unsolicited ballots to voters in the mail in 2020. Sabotaging the Elections in Nigeria When it comes to unjustly influencing elections, the Barack Hussein Obama/Biden Administration sabotaged the re-election prospects of Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, in 2015. Former US Congressman, Steve Stockman, a Member of the US Congressional Delegation sent to Nigeria, in the months after the kidnapping of hundreds of school girls by Boko Haram, confirmed, that a senior US General informed them that they had intelligence that could have aided the Nigerian military to crush the Boko Haram terrorist group, but were blocked from providing this information to the Nigerian authorities by the Obama Administration. The reason given for this refusal of critical intelligence that could have made all the difference in their war against terrorism, was Nigeria's pro-family stance, resisting the same sex "marriage" demands of the Obama Administration. Perverted Agenda Destabilised Nigeria As a result of the deteriorating security situation in Northern Nigeria and what voters saw as the failure of Goodluck Jonathan's presidency, the incumbent lost the presidential elections of 2015 and previous military dictator Muhammadu Buhari was elected, in a highly contested election. The voter turnout was a very low 43% and the election marked the first time an incumbent president had lost re-election in Nigeria. It was also the first time that a previous military dictator won an election after having been ousted! Bring Back Our Girls or We Will Not Vote Our friends in Nigeria informed us that most people who voted for Muhammadu Buhari did so because Jonathan's administration has failed to curb Boko Haram insurgency and millions of Christians chose not to vote as a protest against the Nigerian government’s failure to “bring back our girls!” Far Reaching Effects of US Foreign Policy Nigerians expressed their frustration that American interference and blind promotion of perversion sabotaged attempts to free the kidnapped girls from Boko Haram, undermined Nigerian military attempts to defeat the Jihadists and brought about a catastrophic return to rule by a Muslim, who used to be the military dictator of Nigeria. "While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption…" 2 Peter 2:19 Biden Admitted Obama Administration Armed and Funded ISIS This would also be an opportune time to remind Americans that Vice President Joe Biden confirmed that the Obama White House armed and funded ISIS. (“Obamas ‘anti-ISIS’ Coalition-Built ISIS, Biden Admits,” by Alex Newman, published 7 October 2014 in The New American.) Sponsoring International Terrorism In The Herald, 7 October 2014, under the title: “Biden’s Admission: US Allies Armed ISIS.” Patrick Martin wrote: “ISIS is essentially the creation of the United States and its Allies who fomented civil war in Syria against the government of President Bashar al-Assad. Speaking to students at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy Forum, US Vice President Joseph Biden revealed some of the dirty secrets of the US led war against Syria that US Allies poured hundreds of millions of Dollars and tens of thousands of tonnes of weapons into anyone who would fight Assad.” A Trail of Betrayal The fact is that millions of Christians have suffered and died under communist dictatorships and radical Islamic Jihadist regimes and terrorist movements as a result of US foreign policy that has routinely betrayed pro-Western Allies and supported, funded and armed anti-Christian regimes. Zimbabwe is a Legacy of Carter’s Foreign Policy Over 40 years ago, the country I grew up in, Rhodesia, was betrayed into the hands of communist mass-murderer Robert Mugabe and his Marxist ZANU-PF terrorist organisation. While American voters got rid of Jimmy Carter over 40 years ago, the long-suffering people of Zimbabwe are still stuck with Carter’s foreign policy legacy. The bread basket of Rhodesia became the Zimbabwe basket case. While Rhodesia used to export food, Zimbabwe needs millions of tonnes of relief aid to survive. More than half of the total population of Zimbabwe have fled the country, a vote of “no confidence” in “liberation.” With over 90% of the population unemployed and with sky-rocketing inflation, everyone in Zimbabwe is suffering worse than ever before in history. The Fruit of Voter Fraud But, as Zimbabwean Election observers have noted, the British Foreign Office and American State Department taught Mugabe and other dictators an important lesson. It did not matter how much they lied, cheated, intimidated, terrorised, murdered and how many opposition candidates were beaten up, assassinated or their supporters blown up in busses and trucks enroute to the Electoral poles, as long as Mugabe could claim that he had won the election, he would be accepted and respected as a member of the United Nations and African Union and continue to receive foreign aid. Allowing voter fraud in 1980 has continued to have a catastrophic consequence with deadly results for millions of Zimbabweans ever since. “…Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore, the wrath of the Lord is upon you.” 2 Chronicles 19:2

The original ornamental Victorian Rondebosch Fountain/Horse and Dog Watering Trough, with lamppost, was the first electric street light in South Africa. It was donated to the community by surveyor and railway pioneer, George Pigot-Moodie, on 25 Sept 1891. Refreshment Between Cape Town and Wynberg It was made of cast iron and consisted of a circular drinking trough supported on horses’ legs, with the central post top hexagonal lantern. Four decorated brackets suspended metal cups on chains for people to drink from the sprouting water, while horses drank from the trough and dogs from smaller basins at ground level. The fountain was a popular halfway stop between Cape Town and Wynberg. The First Electric Street Light in South Africa The first electric street light in South Africa was turned on 25 April 1892. It was initially powered by George Pigot-Moodie’s private Power plant, until a municipal Power plant on the Liesbeck River was completed. Damaged by Drunken Driver The Rondebosch Fountain was badly damaged a drunken driver in 2015. For over 5 years, the municipality failed to repair, or restore, the iconic Rondebosch Fountain. Private Initiative Restores Rondebosch Fountain Just in time for Heritage Day, 24 September, Heritage Castings, assisted by the Simon van der Stel Foundation, managed to finally obtain official permission, to, at their own expense, restore the historic Rondebosch Fountain to the community. It was unveiled on Wednesday, 23 September, just in time for Heritage Day. A Cherished Historic Landmark It is as close to the specifications of the original fountain, in its original colours and details, as exact as it was when it reached the Cape from Scotland. This is a tribute to private initiative and enterprise. The iconic Rondebosch Fountain has great historic value and is cherished by all residents and visitors to Rondebosch. A very well done and heartfelt, Thank You to all involved in this initiative. “Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.” Isaiah 58:12

Apparently, the advert used an image of a black person’s hair as an example of “dry and damaged” and “frizzy and dull hair” and of a woman with long blonde hair as “fine and flat hair.” The Race Card Again The Everything For Free (EFF) Party, declared war on Clicks chain stores for stocking these hair products. The office of the Secretary General of the EFF erupted that the TRESemmė advert released on Clicks platforms “compared hair of black people and that of white people, suggested that white peoples hair is superior to black people’s hair” and declared “We will take the most robust action against TRESemmė with no further notice.” EFF Declares War Julius Malema tweeted “if they want war give it to them, including any landlord of any mall who refuse you entrance. No one must disrespect black people without consequences. If it means death, so be it. We are ready for the ultimate sacrifice in defense of black people. #EFFMUSTRISE…@CLICKSsaSEEYOUTOMORROW. FELLOWFIGHTERSandGROUNDFORCES; ATTACK!!!” Threats, Assaults and Destruction At least seven Clicks stores were damaged during “protest action” that took place at Clicks stores across the country. Shoppers and staff were barred entry. Numerous people reported being threatened and assaulted. Windows were smashed. Products were looted and damaged. Petrol bombing damaged a Clicks store. Over 400 Clicks stores were forced to close. Facts Ruin the Racist Narrative Despite the fact that Clicks is a BBEE company with an overwhelming majority of black staff and that the Marketing Manager of Clicks, Veli Mabena, is a black man and despite the fact that the advertising agency which produced the offending advert is also a BBBEE company, EFF was quick to declare that the advert proved that Clicks was a racist company and deserved to be targeted. Strange Selective Outrage If the Everything For Free (EFF) Party really were Economic Freedom Fighters, then you would expect them to be fighting for freedom from Lockdown curfews and against the corruption of the cANCer gangster state. Ignoring the Real Issues You would think that cANCer government corruption looting one third of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP), endemic corruption stealing from everyone, a gangster state looting public enterprises (State Operated Enterprises - SOE) such as SAA, Eskom, Telkom; regular scheduled black out power failures crippling industry, Lockdown economic murder of hundreds of thousands of small and family businesses, killing investment, chasing away investors and job creators, murdering farmers, threatening food supplies and economic growth of this country, endemic violent crime and a widespread failure of government on almost every level possible. Along with top-heavy, unnecessary, unworkable, unconstitutional Lockdown/Martial Law/Curfew oppression, these should be the concern of every citizen of this country. Manufactured Grievances Yet, conveniently, manufactured grievances regularly pop up to distract voters from the criminal failure, incompetence and theft of the political elite looting this country. Just how gullible can one be? The Advertising Agenda Advertising aims to sell products. Advertisers dare not alienate potential customers. It is therefore, frankly, unbelievable, that the TRESemmė company, Clicks chain store, or the advertising company commissioned to produce this advert intentionally and maliciously designed this advert to insult, or alienate, any of their potential customers. The Dissatisfaction Industry However, it is also notable that much of the advertising industry is aimed at making people dissatisfied with how they look and promoting products that pander to peoples’ desire to become something other than what they are. The Obsession with Change It always struck me as rather ironic that those with straight hair want their hair to be curly and those with curly hair want their hair to be straight. It is notable that pale people often want a tan, while tanned people often invest in skin lighteners, Michael Jackson being an extreme example. The multitude of hair straighteners and skin lighteners in the average shop testifies to this obsession of pandering to the innate dissatisfaction in many people as to how God made them. Temper Tantrum Tactics Threaten Lives and Property What cannot be tolerated is the temper tantrum tactics which are becoming all too common in disrupting daily life and essential business. The announced settlement where tens of thousands of products are to be made available free to recipients identified by the EFF, gives the impression that these manufactured crisis on demand, rent a mob riots are not only for the sake of publicity stunts, but for extortion. Extortion Tactics Cannot be Tolerated It is the duty of law enforcement to protect lives and property from terrorism, threats, violence, looting, damage and destruction and disruption of daily business activities. Confusion and Chaos There is a great danger in non-issues, such as gender fluidity, trans sports, males identifying as females demanding access to female’s bathrooms, males claiming to self-identify as females wanting to be qualified for women’s sports events and other patently fake issues, to distract, deviate and derail daily life. For political rabble rousers and extortionists to continually play the race card, to confuse, to divide, corrupt and create chaos, is massively destructive. A Matter of Priorities The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. For a Christian, our highest priority is to love God with all of our heart, with all of our soul, with all of our mind and with all of our strength. To love our neighbour as ourselves. To do to others as we would want others to do unto us. To seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Beware of Distractions We dare not allow a secular humanist mass-media, far less professional political trouble makers who identify themselves as Marxist Revolutionaries, to set the agenda and distract us from our daily priorities. The Need to Resist Revolution There is nothing Communists respect more than strength. There is nothing they despise more than weakness. There is nothing to be gained for those who want to pander to temper tantrum tactics and bullying of those who want to intimidate us into bowing to their political agenda, repeating their rhetorical racist rants and mouthing their meaningless mantras. Secession for Survival The ongoing outrageous Lockdown regulations which are suffocating businesses and chasing away investors and tourists, provides the ideal example of why decentralisation, self-determination, secession and independence is increasingly essential for survival. The situation is desperate and the need for the Independence of the Cape of Good Hope is urgent. Do Not Allow the Degenerate to Derail You We need to fear God alone. We bow to God alone. Let us be wise in our daily duties and Biblical in the priorities we focus on. There is a great danger in allowing the degenerate to distract, deviate and derail us from our highest priorities. Live in the light of Eternity. Make your life count. The Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ must be our supreme ambition. Dr. Peter Hammond

Rhodes Memorial offers an unrivalled panoramic view of the Cape Peninsula and is often a site for wedding photographs and film shoots. The Matthew film utilised Rhodes Memorial for the Temple scenes. Mandela Appreciated Rhodes President Nelson Mandela publicly praised the vision and educational legacy of Cecil John Rhodes. At a speech at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, 16 April 2002, a century after the death of Cecil Rhodes, Nelson Mandela emphasized the need to: "…honour… and respect those who have worked to build and develop our country… South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity… we have to harness all of the different strands of our history as we reconstruct and develop our country. We have to ensure that we live together in ways that make all South Africans confident that the country equally belongs to all who live in it." Criminal Activity In damaging this historic monument erected by the citizens of Cape Town, financed by individual donations, these vandals are guilty of a serious crime. They are also publicly demonstrating their ignorance of what Cecil Rhodes actually stood for and achieved and what Nelson Mandela advocated in respecting those who built the country and developed it for the benefit of all. Honoured by the Matabele Cecil Rhodes was greatly respected by the Matabele whose culture he respected. The sons of King Lobengula chose to devote themselves to Rhodes' service. The Matabele honoured Cecil Rhodes with a traditional king's burial in the Matopos, where, for over 80 years, they posted guards to protect his grave site on World View. When, in February 2012, ZANU-PF Marxists attempted to exhume Rhodes' remains, the local Chief Masuku forbade it. Godfrey Mahachi, one of Zimbabwe’s foremost archaeologists, strongly opposed this desecration of an historic monument and tourist attraction. A Waste of Time and Energy It is unlikely that the hysterical rioters and destroyers of historic monuments are aware of any of this. That they are merely pawns in a cheap political move, may be the furthest thing from their minds, but damaging historic monuments and tourist attractions are not only meaningless gestures that will do nothing to improve life or education for anyone, but are a terrible waste of time and energy. Such energy should rather be dedicated to furthering education, improving job prospects and encouraging investments in the country. Without Salary Unlike most modern politicians, Cecil Rhodes never took a salary when he was Prime Minister of the Cape (1890-1896). In fact, rather than have the state build him a house (as Jacob Zuma did), Cecil Rhodes built Groote Schuur (now Genadendal) with his own funds and he donated it to the Cape as a residence for future Prime Ministers and, with foresight, to be the residence of future Prime Ministers of a united South Africa. Generous Provision Rhodes bought up and ensured the protection of the land on the slopes of Table Mountain, which he donated to the country, to become Newlands Forest, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and the Upper Campus of the University of Cape Town. To Prevent Wars Most significantly, he provided for the establishment of the famous Rhodes Scholarship, which he envisaged to "render wars impossible and promote the best interests of humanity." In fact, if his vision had been adhered to, the catastrophic First and Second World Wars would have been avoided. It was Rhodes' vision to unite the British, German, Dutch and American people through education and student exchange programmes, for the betterment of humanity and to ensure world peace. Eradicating Discrimination Rhodes supported teaching Dutch, as well as English, in the public schools in the Cape Colony and donated money for this cause. As Prime Minister of the Cape Colony, he removed the legal discriminations that English speakers had imposed on the Dutch speaking Afrikaaners. He was a friend and supporter of Jan Hofmeyr, leader of the Afrikaner Bond. Opposing British Aggression Rhodes opposed the British annexation of the Transvaal in 1877 and supported the Boer cause in the First War of Independence (1880-1881). He also opposed the British invasion of Zululand in 1879. Self-Government Rhodes advocated greater self-government for the Cape Colony, for Australia, Canada and New Zealand and opposed interference from London in our local affairs. In this respect it is inaccurate to call Rhodes an imperialist in that he opposed centralised control and advocated autonomy, decentralisation and self-government throughout the British Empire. Rhodes was devoted to Queen Victoria but he scornfully disdained the politicians in Whitehall. Devoted to World Peace Rhodes greatly respected the Germans, admired the Kaiser and provided for German students to be included in the Rhodes Scholarship. He believed partnership between the United Kingdom, the USA and Germany would ensure world peace. Great South African In 2004, Cecil Rhodes was voted 56th in the SABC Television series, Great South Africans. Equal Rights Some of Rhodes' quotations that seemed to have been forgotten are: "Equal rights for all civilised men" and "I could never accept the position that we should disqualify a human being on account of his colour." Ignorance and Ingratitude So, those hooligans who have attacked and campaigned against monuments of the man who donated the land and provided the money for the University of Cape Town and whose Legacy funds education worldwide, are not only demonstrating crass ingratitude but abject ignorance on the matters that they are demonstrating about. Double Standards It seems hypocritical to campaign against Cecil Rhodes, who never took a Pound out of the public treasury for himself, but who provided for the education of literally millions over the last century, while ignoring the ongoing atrocities and corruptions of Blood Diamond criminal dictators, like Mnangagwa, in Zimbabwe, today. Meaningful Perhaps a more meaningful demonstration against Cecil Rhodes would be, for those offended by him, to refuse to study on a campus that he provided for, or to benefit from any of the Educational Trusts that he set up and funded. Rhodes Cottage Those who live in Cape Town would do themselves a favour by visiting the humble Rhodes Cottage in Muizenberg where Cecil Rhodes died and acquainting themselves with some of the legacy of this farsighted and incredibly influential figure in our history. His last words were: “So little done. So much to do.” A Battle for Historic Truth Whether we like Rhodes, or not, we all benefit from his legacy. If mobs can damage, or remove one historic monument, then no monument is safe. This is not about Rhodes. This is a battle over history. It is a war against civilisation, the rule of law and education itself! “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 Dr. Peter Hammond Frontline Fellowship P.O. One news headline: “Protestors hurled Rocks and Molotov Cocktails at Police in Philadelphia!” Protests by definition are peaceful. Violence and protests are mutually exclusive. Rioters throwing rocks and “Molotov cocktails” should not by any stretch of the imagination, be misconstrued as “protestors.” Fuel Bombs are Weapons of War not Placards Molotov cocktails (also known as petrol bombs, gasoline bombs, fire bombs, or the poor man’s grenade) were first designed and named by the Finnish defenders fighting the Soviet Red Army invasion in the 1939-1940 Winter War. The term “Molotov cocktail” was a pejorative reference to the Soviet foreign minister, Vyacheslav Molotov. The Finns named their napalm-like mixture of petrol, alcohol, with some motor oil added, ignited by a burning cloth/wick held in place by the narrow neck of a glass bottle after the communist deceiver Molotov. The wick was usually soaked in alcohol, or kerosene, then the bottle was hurled at a Soviet tank, or other Red Army vehicle. When the bottle smashed on impact the ensuing cloud of fuel droplets and vapour ignited by the attached burning wick, or rag, caused an immediate fireball followed by spreading flames of the remainder of the ignited fuel. Mocking Molotov’s Marxist Propaganda The origin of the name came from the Communist propaganda which Soviet minister Molotov espoused during the Winter War, when he declared that the Soviet bombing missions over Finland were actually “airborne humanitarian food deliveries” for their “starving neighbours!” Therefore, the Finns, sarcastically referred to Soviet cluster bombs as “Molotov bread baskets” and their hand-held bottle firebombs to attack Soviet tanks a “Molotov cocktail” as a drink to go with his “humanitarian food parcels.” The Finnish Origin of the Weapon and Choice of Name should Expose the Hypocrisy The historic origin of both the term Molotov cocktail and this napalm-like weapon of war, should shed some light on the disinformation being broadcast about “mostly peaceful protestors!” Devastation Exposes Deceit Reportedly, at least 145 cities across the United States of America have been ravaged by violent riots, looting and arson attacks. Literally thousands of businesses have been looted, damaged or destroyed by rioters, arsonists and looters. Fires were set in the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church on Lafayette Park in front of the White House. More than 50 secret service agents in Washington D.C. were injured trying to protect the White House from riotous mobs. Facts can really ruin a good media narrative. Well Organised “Spontaneous” Riots With literally thousands of businesses devastated and Billions of Dollars’ worth of damage and losses across the United States, the reported narrative of “spontaneous rage” at “police brutality” seems tenuous. Initial reports indicate that there is evidence of orchestration behind the scenes. The sinister Antifa Terrorist movement plainly played a pivotal role. Vladimir Lenin spoke of “constructive chaos” to advance Revolutionary goals. As the National Guard deployed in 23 States and curfews were declared in many cities, the question needs to be asked; What role has the mainstream mass media played in fanning the flames and pouring fuel on the fires of violent discontent? Selective Outrage The zoom lens of selective reporting ignores the wide-angle lens of context. Frequently the mainstream mass media misses the big picture. There seems to be a pattern of ignoring terrible atrocities by Marxist Revolutionaries and the ongoing persecution of Christians in Islamic lands. “Whoever says to the guilty, ‘You are innocent,’ will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations.” Proverbs 24:24 Atrocities that Do Not Make the News As a Missionary to persecuted churches for most of the last 40 years, I have walked and worked In the Killing Fields of Mozambique, documenting the burning of Bibles, destruction of churches and massacres of Christians by the Marxist FRELIMO dictatorship. I have served suffering Christians in MPLA controlled Marxist Angola, documenting the destruction of churches, burning of Bibles and murdering of ministers by communist Cuban troops and the Marxists MPLA forces. In Rwanda, I walked knee high and sometimes waist deep in corpses, in churches, interviewing the survivors of the Rwandan Genocide and documenting in my book, Holocaust in Rwanda, the disgraceful roles of the United Nations, the French and Clinton governments, liberal WCC affiliated church leaders and the manipulation of the news media. Hidden Holocausts and Forgotten Wars In Sudan, I was eyewitness to the scorched earth, Islamic Jihad genocidal war waged against Christians of South Sudan and the Nuba Mountains. This was documented in Faith Under Fire in Sudan book and in the Sudan: The Hidden Holocaust and Terrorism and Persecution films. Strangely, the secular mass media took little interest in the plight of millions of Christians persecuted in communist and Muslim lands in Africa and Asia. Apparently not all Black lives matter to CNN. There are Positive Practical and Constructive Ways to Respond to Abuse Although I have experience artillery, rocket and aerial bombardments at churches I was ministering in, as well as being arrested, abused and incarcerated in communist prisons, I never responded to the atrocities I witnessed, or to the abuse I endured, by advocating, or participating in, violence, or terrorism. No, that is not how Christians respond. I wrote books, helped produce films, gave presentations at churches and conferences, was interviewed on radio and TV programmes, testified at International Human Rights conventions and to members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Washington D.C and to members of the British Foreign Office in London. It is Better to Light a Candle than to Curse the Darkness It is important to pray the Psalms, to take injustices directly to God and seek His intervention. To pray against evil. To shine the light of research and investigation on the dark dealings of the persecutors of the Church and those guilty of atrocities. To speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. To be a voice for the voiceless. To do something positive and constructive to help build a better future, for families, for the Faith and for freedom. Truth Does Not Fear Investigation It is important that we do not rely on only one source of information for our news and views on the world. We need discernment to understand the times and to know what Gods people should do. We need to evaluate everything in the light of God’s Word and seek to be positive, practical and solution focussed. A Shocking Contrast How is it possible that so much police energy was focused on arresting surfers, joggers and people walking their dogs and yet when St. Pauls, Minnesota erupted in violence the police chief evacuated his personnel and allowed rioters to occupy, vandalise, loot and torch the central police station? So, we learned that if you attempt to open your business during a lockdown, you could be arrested. But if you looted a business last week, the police left you alone! People exercising, running, or surfing were arrested, but those throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails were unimpeded by police action at St. Paul’s, Minnesota. A Culture of Compulsion and Coercion The excessive state overreaction enforcing a culture of compulsion and coercion during the COVID-19 Lockdown provides a stark contrast to the hands-off and withdraw approach of police in all too many cities, torn by violence, arson and looting. The Curse of Centralisation and Globalisation All of this provides another vivid example of the dangers of centralisation and the advantages of decentralisation. The Swiss model of decentralisation is far better than the Towel of Babel, Egyptian pyramid, Nineveh, centralisation, top-down approach to government. Revelation 13 warns us of the anti-Christ goal of a one-world government, a one-world religious movement and a one-world economic system. Recent history demonstrates the dangers of the United Nations, World Health Organisation, European Union and other groups working for a New World Order. Globalism is such a threat that in a matter of weeks, 3.5 Billion people on the planet were in some form of government enforced lockdown. Decentralisation is the Solution to the Chaos that Threatens Civilisation Decentralisation is the answer. When local municipalities control their own local police force, whose members are drawn from that local municipality, the safeguards are far more effective. Local police, who are recruited from that community and answerable to the local municipality will not abuse their friends or neighbours, nor will they withdraw, or stand idly by, while their friends, family and neighbours’ businesses and properties are threatened, looted and burned. Resist Globalisation and Centralisation The global Lockdown and the riots devastating so many cities around the States, are just some of the results of globalism. Centralisation and the culture of compulsion and coercion were warned about in Revelation 13 and in George Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984. “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.” 2 Peter 2:19. We need to reject globalisation, centralisation, disinformation, the Revolution and their agenda and work for decentralisation, Reformation, praying for Revival. Dr. Peter Hammond

The lasting and far-reaching damage caused by this authoritarian precedent far outweigh those caused by the COVID-19 virus. The people—individuals, families, local communities, congregations and businesses—must decide for themselves how and when to reopen and return to their daily lives. Whatever happened to Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights? Whatever happened to freedom of movement? Freedom of conscience? Freedom of religion? Freedom of worship? Is it wise to surrender essential liberties for promised relief from a disease? What can we learn from Singapore, South Korea and Sweden, concerning how they have dealt with the COVID-19 epidemic, without a lockdown undermining the economy and impoverishing millions? Neither a president nor parliament has the legal authority to shut down daily life without due process. Business closures, restrictions on assembly, church services and movement and quarantines are not constitutionally permissible. These due process requirements may not be suspended. State officials may claim police powers to shut down communities and unilaterally imposing lengthy periods of virtual house arrest, but this is neither wise nor necessary. Indeed it is extremely dangerous to Liberty. We do not know, and cannot yet know, how many will become sick or die from the virus. We do know that predictions regarding infection and death rates are frequently highly unreliable. Even actual deaths attributable to COVID-19 are not so easy to count, as Italy has discovered. Age, general health, and comorbidity are difficult variables to assess and people may die “with” the virus but not “from” it. It is also very difficult to assess the lethality of the virus relative to previously known types of flu and colds. In 1850, French economist Frédéric Bastiat helped the world understand the “seen and unseen costs” of state policies. It is simple to see how quarantines and lockdowns may slow the spread of a pandemic. It is critical, but it is not so simple, to see the costs and unintended harm caused by an economic shutdown. Only then can anyone rationally understand the trade-offs involved. “To the Law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20 To date, COVID-19 deaths are far fewer than deaths in ordinary flu seasons, or from past pandemics such as the H1N1 virus. This understanding is critically important to put the virus, and government response to it, in perspective. Even during past pandemics, depressions and world wars, people still went to work. How many suffering from other illnesses cannot see a doctor now? How many will lose their jobs, their life savings, their retirement prospects and their incalculable feeling of self-worth? How many will succumb to depression, drug or alcohol abuse and suicide? How many will lose their homes, divorce their spouses, or suffer abuse? How many will never recover in their careers? How many small businesses, including the vital ones of doctors, dentists and veterinarians, will vanish from your community? How many young people will “fail to launch”? Will grocery stores remain open and remain adequately stocked? Will crime increase? Will the social fabric, already thin from politics, tear apart? These questions are not rhetorical. Millions will not be able to pay their rent or mortgages. Millions of small businesses will suffer, just as many large employers, airlines and hotels already have. Millions are unemployed already, but many millions more jobs will be lost. The disastrous effects will escalate. There is no conflict between humanitarian and economic concerns; in fact, they are two sides of the same coin. A poorer country will be a much less healthy country, one more vulnerable to future illness and disease. Technology, modern medicine and market innovators can counteract a virus. Already we see entrepreneurs producing cheaper ventilators and doctors using cheap generic treatments with very promising results. This local, decentralised, bottom-up approach is the only effective way to confront any crisis. Governments, as we see now and have seen in the past, are generally comically and tragically incapable of competence in times of crisis. Yet, Singapore, South Korea and Sweden have dealt responsibly with the COVID-19 epidemic, without a lockdown undermining the economy and impoverishing millions. Freedom really is more important than security—or, in this case, an illusion of security. We all demonstrate this in our personal lives taking risks every day, from flying, to driving, to riding bicycles, to climbing mountains. Security has never been the sole or even primary goal for any people. Governments cannot decide what aspects of our lives are essential or nonessential. Civil servants are not meant to rule our lives, but to serve the citizens and tax payers who elect them and pay their salaries. People cannot simply sit at home and wait for government checks written on funds that government does not have. Irresponsible, power hungry and corrupt politicians are mortgaging the futures of our children and grandchildren. In violation of our constitution and Bill of Rights. End the Lockdown.

UNCENSORED NEWS FROM HENRY MORTON STANLEY SCHOOL OF CHRISTIAN JOURNALISM To see a video presentation of this article Click here To listen to an audio presentation of this article Click here COVID-19 According to the situation dashboard on the World Health Organisation website, as of Thursday, 19 March, there were more than 209,839 confirmed cases of Coronavirus COVID-19 in 168 countries/territories, with just over 8,778 deaths. Wild speculations about Coronavirus (COVID-19) are being spread by fear-mongers and gullible people pass the panic along through their social networks. As Christians, we need to be balanced, wise and practical. Traffic Accidents To put this into perspective, the World Health Organisation (WHO) website under Global Health Observatory (GHO)/Road Safety, reports that 1,315,000 die each year from road accidents. Tuberculosis On the who.int newsroom/fact sheets/details/tuberculosis, reports that each year, 10 million people fall ill with Tuberculosis (TB) and 1.5 million people die from TB each year. Malaria According to WHO, there were 228 million cases of Malaria last year, with over 405,000 deaths from Malaria. Alcohol Alcohol consumption contributes to 3 million deaths each year globally, as well as to disabilities and poor health of millions more. Tobacco Each year more than 8 million people die from Tobacco use. Second hand Tobacco smoke contributes to heart disease, cancer and other diseases, causing an additional 1.2 million deaths in a year. The total economic cost (from Health expenditures and productivity losses) of smoking are calculated to be over US$1.4 Trillion per year. Obesity For that matter, obesity causes over 4 million deaths each year. STDs WHO claims that there are 376 million new infections with sexually transmitted diseases each year. 37.9 million people are living with HIV (AIDS), according to WHO. Cancer According to WHO, over 9.6 million deaths are caused each year by cancer (particularly lung, prostrate, stomach, liver, breast and cervical cancer). Stampeded by Sensational Speculations So, we should try to keep a balanced perspective and avoid being stampeded into panic by sensational reports in the media, or by questionable claims and responses by politicians and bureaucrats, who use medical crises to infringe on personal freedom of movement and initiate intrusive procedures, which impact economies and societies dramatically. It is likely that far more people and business will be ruined economically by the responses to the Coronavirus, than will actually be affected by the virus directly. FEAR Some have pointed out that the word fear can be an acrostic: False Evidence Appearing Real. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim. 1:7 Love and Compassion It is always wise to be prudent and take reasonable measures to protect the health of ourselves and our loved ones. Particularly those who serve in healthcare, should balance prudence with compassion as they serve those who need their care. Our Lord Jesus and His followers have always given special attention to the sick, who were socially stigmatised and isolated, such as lepers. A Medical Perspective Doctor Dung Trinh, Chairman of the Board of Healthcare Christian Fellowship, USA, has produced a helpful article and video entitled: How Seniors Can Prepare for the New Coronavirus. He points out that the Coronavirus constitutes a huge community of viruses. First reported in Wuhan, China (where 5G was first rolled out), in December 2019, COVID-19 induces fever, difficulties in breathing, coughing and inflammation of the gastro-intestinal system. The CDC reports that the virus may have an incubation period of up to two weeks and signs may occur within as little as two days after one was exposed to the virus. Patients may be contagious during this silent incubation period. Clinical signs of infection of Coronavirus are very similar to those of influenza. It includes coughing, fever, shortness of breath and general feeling of being unwell. According to current data, around 80% of the infections are categorised as “mild”, which can be treated at home with fluids, rest and medication. Around 20% of infected patients require more advanced treatment, or even hospitalisation. The current rate of mortality, according to the CDC is around 3.4%. Far less serious than SARS, which had a death rate of 10%, or MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome),which killed close to 35% of the infected population. Unfortunately, those at high risk for COVID-19 are older patients with chronic medical conditions and those who are immune compromised. The majority of deaths so far, are amongst the elderly. It does not seem, at this stage, to affect children nearly as much. How the Coronavirus Spreads “The virus spreads by respiratory droplets that come through coughs or sneezes of an infected person. The most common viral portal of entry is usually our nose, mouth and eyes. This means touching your own nose, eyes, or lips, may facilitate the virus transmission, especially after an individual has touched a surface that is contaminated with the Coronavirus.” Practical Precautions Therefore. Dr. Trinh recommends the following habits and precautions to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and lower your risk for cold, or flu in general: “Avoid contact with anyone who is sick. Avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes. Stay at home if you are sick. Cover your cough and sneeze using a tissue. Throw away any used tissues in the trash. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, especially before eating, after just coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose and after using the restroom. When soap and water are not available, alcohol based hand sanitizers are a great option. Clean and disinfect any objects and surfaces touched with a cleaning wipe or spray. Facemasks should be worn by people who show symptoms, to prevent the spread of the disease, however, they are not recommended to people who are well. Minimise hand shaking. Use knuckles to touch public lights, like elevator buttons. Gas stations – use glove or paper towel to lift gasoline dispenser. Open doors with closed fists, or hips, especially public doors. Use disinfectant wipes with grocery carts. Wash hands with soap and water when returning home from any activity. Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer available at home entrance and in the car. “ Practise Good Hygiene at All Times These are all good hygiene habits, whether there is a pandemic panic or not. The Bible includes numerous hygiene laws and practices and while we should steadfastly refuse to be stampeded into panic by sensational speculations and professional fear-mongers, we need to be wise and prudent. Avoid Crowds The doctor also recommends cutting back on public events and outings in regional areas where known cases or Coronavirus have been reported and large crowds where there is obviously a higher risk of infection. He also recommends cleaning bathroom facilities at work, several times a day with a particular focus on door handles and tap handles. Be More Aware of Spiritual Diseases We also need to use the opportunity to draw attention to spiritual diseases, which pose serious risks to us all. Click here to listen to the message: Spiritual Diseases and the Biblical Cure, or here to access an abbreviated PDF tract form: Spiritual Diseases that can be printed for distribution. Deadly Ideologies It would also be worthwhile to point out that while the Coronavirus from China has killed several thousand people, the communist ideology killed over 69 million people in China and well over 100 more million worldwide. It is not only physical diseases, but also ideological and spiritual diseases, which we should be concerned about. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8

Imagine spending 20 years writing and rewriting a monumental tome dissecting 20th century global conflicts, only to have it sit in storage for nearly five more decades! Such was the fate of the book Herbert Hoover called his Magnum Opus: a heavily documented effort to expose hidden aspects of U.S. foreign policy before, during and after World War II. Uncomfortable Truths At last, Freedom Betrayed, the manuscript that America's 31st president completed in 1963, is in print (Hoover Institution Press). Edited and introduced by historian George H. Nash, the 900-page memoir offers an encyclopaedia of uncomfortable truths that seriously challenge the traditional views of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. False Promises Roosevelt engineered the U.S. entry into World War II, against the law of the land and despite public and congressional anti-war sentiment. This, despite his 1940 campaign promise: "I have said this before, but I shall say it again and again and again: Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars." Unwise In the author's view, the wise course would have been to let Russia's Stalin and Germany's Hitler - "destroy each other." The colossal American military aid shipped to Stalin's Soviet Union was neither morally defensible, nor wise. Interference American territory was never threatened by Germany and even Western Europe would have remained unscathed had it not attempted to stop Germany's eastward push. Supporting Communism Instead, by partnering with Stalin to defeat Hitler, Roosevelt and Churchill gave communism legitimacy and provided the essential support that prevented the Soviet Union from collapsing as Operation Barbarossa was launched. Treachery Worse, by acceding to the Soviet dictator's territorial demands, they betrayed the very principles of universal self-determination they had proclaimed in The Atlantic Charter. Catastrophic Betrayal By November 1943, secret commitments by the Allies at their Tehran Conference constituted "the greatest blows to human freedom in this century." Appeasing Communism The Soviet Union would be allowed to annex Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bessarabia, Bukovina and parts of Finland and Poland and to secure a periphery of "friendly border states." Behind the Iron Curtain Thus, fifteen nations and over 100 million Christians were betrayed to Communism and the independent life and freedom they had enjoyed were snuffed out. Stalin's Ambitions Hoover documents Roosevelt's repeated assurances to Stalin that he would do nothing to thwart Soviet ambitions. Provoking War in the Pacific Freedom Betrayed indicts Roosevelt for instigating the Pacific war as well: His economic sanctions against Japan and shunning of Japanese peace overtures sparked the Pearl Harbour attack and ultimately led to the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki - "an act of unparalleled brutality in all American history." Selling Out China to Communism Hoover cites other markers along the slippery slope of the Stalin alliance: the Yalta Conference agreement ceding the Kurile Islands and Sakhalin Island to Russia (in exchange for promised help, of dubious value, against Japan); the broken agreement with Chinese nationalist leader Chiang Kai-shek to consult him on matters pertaining to Asia; the loss of China and North Korea to communism. Communist Infiltration One of the author's provocative questions includes: What part did Communist agents in U.S. government positions play in Roosevelt's policies? The United States Administration of FDR was riddled with communist agents. Indictment The culmination of an extraordinary literary project that Herbert Hoover launched during World War II, his "Magnum Opus" at last published nearly fifty years after its completion, offers a revisionist re-examination of the war and its Cold War aftermath and a sweeping indictment of the "lost statesmanship" of Franklin Roosevelt. Expanding the Soviet Empire Freedom Betrayed: Herbert Hoover's Secret History of the Second World War and Its Aftermath originated as a volume of Hoover's memoirs, a book initially focused on his battle against President Roosevelt's foreign policies before Pearl Harbour. As time went on and events unfolded however, Hoover widened his scope to include Roosevelt's disastrous foreign policies during the war, as well as the war's consequences: the expansion of the Soviet empire at war's end and the eruption of the Cold War. Critical Questions On issue after issue, Hoover raises crucial questions that continue to be debated to this day. Undeclared War Did Franklin Roosevelt deceitfully manoeuvre the United States into an undeclared and unconstitutional, naval war with Germany even before 1941? Appeasing Communism Did he unnecessarily appease Joseph Stalin at the pivotal Tehran conference in 1943? Communist Subversion Did communist agents and sympathizers in the White House, Department of State and Department of the Treasury play a malign role in America's wartime decisions? Think Again Hoover raises numerous arguments that challenge us to think again about our past. Whether, or not one ultimately accepts his arguments, the exercise of confronting them will be worthwhile to all. Desperately Seeking War William Henry Chamberlin in America's Second Crusade (1950) wrote: "It is scarcely possible, in the light of this and many other known facts, to avoid the conclusion that the Roosevelt Administration sought the war which began at Pearl Harbour. The steps which made armed conflict inevitable would take months before the conflict broke out." (Freedom Betrayed: Herbert Hoovers Secret History of the Second World War and Its Aftermath). Failing to Give US Servicemen a Fighting Chance General Albert C. Wedemeyer is quoted by Herbert Hoover in Freedom Betrayed as stating: "When on, December 6, our intercepts told us that the Japanese were going to attack somewhere the very next day, whether in the Central Pacific, or to the South in the Philippines and Dutch East Indies, the president of the United States, as Commander in Chief of our Military Forces… could have gone on the radio and broadcast to the wide world that he had irrefutable evidence of an immediate Japanese intention to strike. This would have alerted everybody from Singapore to Pearl Harbour. Even though inadequate in some cases to defend effectively, nevertheless, our forces would have been able to take a toll, which would have blunted the Japanese attack. In Hawaii, the capital ships might have been moved out of the congested harbour to sea, where Admiral Kimmel at least had the foresight to keep the far more vital aircraft carriers. Furthermore, our Carrier taskforce in the mid-Pacific might have attacked the Japanese taskforce when its planes were aloft. There are many possibilities which could have given our men a fighting chance." Blind Service to Stalin and the Soviet Union "Roosevelt ignored the whole communist infiltration into his administration. Much of it was to be exposed before his death. But of more importance, he ignored the whole international purpose of communism and its morals in International relations. Its purposes and methods had been blatantly stated to the world ever since 1917 and its statements in books were widely distributed in the United States. Roosevelt was not a communist. His leanings towards Stalin and blindness to communistic activities arose partly from his own Leftist-leaning and partly from the usefulness of the communists in support of his administration politically throughout his 13 years in office." Co-operating with Communism "His leanings towards Stalin and the communist began with the recognition of the Soviet Union immediately upon taking his office in 1933... During 15 years prior to the recognition, Democratic and Republican administrations alike had barred any relations with a country which had returned huge numbers of mankind to slavery and was constantly conspiring against the welfare of other peoples. By recognition, Roosevelt gave the Soviet Union certain respectability in the family of nations, but also of importance. By that act, he had opened the door to communist penetration and conspiracies in the United States." A Madman's Desire to Get US into War In Herbert Hoover's Freedom Betrayed, General Douglas McArthur's views are reported that: "the whole Japanese war was a madman's desire to get us into war." McArthur was convinced that the "Financial sanctions in July 1941 were not only provocative but that Japan was bound to fight even if it were suicide, unless they could be removed, as the sanctions carried every penalty of war except killing and destruction and no nation of dignity would take them for long." An Unnecessary War McArthur said that: "Roosevelt could have made peace with Konoye in September 1941 and could have obtained all of the American objectives in the Pacific and the freedom of China and probably Manchuria. Konoye was authorized by the Emperor to agree to complete withdrawal." Callous Indifference to the American Army Beleaguered in the Philippines McArthur was bitter about: "Roosevelt's starvation of supplies to him at a time when the whole fate of the South Pacific and their allies in Asia was at stake." "Roosevelt had shown his vindictiveness in many ways." The Truth about Pearl Harbour In September 1944, John Flynn, a member of the America First Committee, published The Truth about Pearl Harbour: Provoking Japan to Get America into the War Rear Admiral Frank Beatty, who at the time of the Pearl Harbour attack was an aide to the Secretary of the Navy, Frank Knox, testified: "Prior to 7 December, it was evident even to me… that we were pushing Japan into a corner. I believe that it was the desire of President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill that we get into the war, as they felt their allies could not win without us and all our efforts to cause the Germans to declare war on us had failed. The conditions we imposed upon Japan were so severe that we knew the nation could not accept them. We were forcing her so severely that we could have known that she would react towards the United States. All her preparations in a military way - and we knew their overall import - pointed that way." "Worth the Price" Jonathan Daniels, Roosevelt's administrative assistant at that time of Pearl Harbour, presented an eyewitness viewpoint: "The blow was heavier than he had hoped it would necessarily be… But the risks paid off; even the loss was worth the price..." ("1941: Pearl Harbour Sunday: The End of an Era"). To Save the Soviet Union from Collapse in Europe In Day of Deceit, by Robert Stinnett, a memorandum prepared by Commander McCollun stated that a memorandum issued in the immediate pre-war period declared that only a direct attack on US interests would sway the American public, or Congress, to favour direct involvement in the European war. Anderson and Secretary Knox, offered eight specific plans to aggrieve the Japanese Empire "If by these means Japan could be led to commit an overt active war, so much the better." The McCollun memo of 7 October 1940 remained classified until 1994. Reckless and Irresponsible Admiral James Richardson was fired by President Roosevelt for complaining about the president's order to station the Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbour. Admiral Richardson blamed the president for the "initial defeats in the Pacific" as "direct, real and personal." Richardson believed that stationing the Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbour made the ships "extremely vulnerable to attack" and provided "a poor and nonstrategic defence." A Travesty of History "No reasonably informed person can now believe that Japan made a villainous unexpected attack on the United States. An attack was not only fully expected, but was actually desired. It is beyond doubt that President Roosevelt wanted to get his country into the war, but for political reasons, was most anxious to ensure that the first act of hostility came from the other side; for which reason he caused increasing pressure to be put on the Japanese, to a point that no self-respecting nation could endure without resort to arms. Japan was meant, by the American President, to attack the United States. As Mr Oliver Lyttelton, then British Minister of Production, said in 1944: 'Japan was provoked into attacking America's Pearl Harbour. It is a travesty of history to say that America was forced into the war'." - British Historian Captain Russell Grenfell Main Fleet to Singapore as quoted by President Herbert Hoover in Freedom Betrayed. Attempted Cover Ups "The Roberts Commission Report was so hasty, inconclusive and incomplete. Some witnesses were examined under oath, others were not. Much testimony was not even recorded… several records were missing and most inadequate explanations were supplied… Army and Navy information indicated growing imminence of war was delivered to the highest authorities… including the President. The fatal error of Washington was to undertake a world campaign and world responsibilities without first making provision for the security of the United States, which was their prime constitutional obligation. High Washington authorities did not communicate to Admiral Kimmel and General Short adequate information of diplomatic negotiations and of intercepted diplomatic intelligence, which, if communicated with them, would have informed them of the imminent menace of a Japanese attack in time for them to fully alert and prepare the defence of Pearl Harbour… the failure to perform the responsibilities indispensably essential to the defence of Pearl Harbour rest upon Franklin D. Roosevelt, Henry L. Stimson, Frank Knox and George C. Marshall…" (Freedom Betrayed) Dragging a Reluctant America into War George Morgenstern in his book, Pearl Harbour: The Story of the Secret War, published in 1947, wrote: "With absolute knowledge of war, they refused to communicate that knowledge clearly, unequivocally and in time, to the people in the field, upon whom the blow would fall… Pearl Harbour provided the American War party with the means of escaping dependence on a hesitant Congress in taking a reluctant people into war… Pearl Harbour was the first action of the Acknowledged War and the last battle of a Secret War, upon which the administration had long since embarked. The Secret War of Deception and Propaganda "The Secret War was waged against nations which the leadership of this country had chosen as enemies’ months before they became formal enemies, by declaration of war. It was waged also by psychological means by propaganda and deception against the American people… the people were told that acts which were equivalent to war were intended to keep the nation out of war. Constitutional processes existed only to be circumvented. Until finally the war making power of Congress was reduced to the act of ratifying an accomplished fact." Rejecting Every Overture for Peace Herbert Hoover declares in his book Freedom Betrayed: "It can never be forgotten that three times during 1941 Japan made overtures for peace negotiation. America never made one unless a futile proposal to the Emperor the day before Pearl Harbour could be called peace. A peace could have been made in the Pacific that would have saved China from ravishment and would have protected the American Pacific flank. If Roosevelt was still determined to carry on his undeclared war with Germany, until it provoked reprisals, that Pacific protection was the only sane course. It would have limited our engagement in any case to the European theatre. As a result of this policy - an undeclared war upon Japan - we suffered the greatest military defeat in our history - with immeasurable consequences. Fanning the Flames of Hate by a Mass of Lies "Public opinion was overwhelmingly against our being involved in the war up to the day of Pearl Harbour… America came into World War One 33 months after its outbreak. She came into World War Two 27 months after it started. The processes and the months of lag were the same: the appeal to crusade for freedom, for independence of nations, for lasting peace; the same pictures of atrocities; the fanning of hate and above all, the mass of lies and stimulation of fear of invasion - they were identical. But in World War Two the people believed much less of it and they believed much more that they were being deliberately pushed into the war. They dimly recognised that they were being ground in the mills of power politics and the personal ambitions of men." Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt's War "The First World War had been conducted in the Allied side in the name of 'the peoples'. This war was in the name of Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt. At times the whole political and military scene seemed their personal property - as it was." (Herbert Hoover, Freedom Betrayed). Many Recognised they Were Being Forced and Deceived into War "In the first World War, our sons marched to war with flowers in their rifles. Bands and cheering people were on every platform. There were no bands, no flowers and no cheers on the railway platforms to World War Two. There was little singing of war ballades by soldiers or civilians, except at the urging of paid conductors of propaganda. The station platforms were stages for grieving and tears. The promises, the speeches, the propaganda filled the air as in World War One, but this time the people received it grimly and with little believing." - Herbert Hoover. Double Standards President Herbert Hoover in Freedom Betrayed documents: "Roosevelt's contemptuous refusal of Prime Minister Konoe's proposals for peace in the Pacific of September, 1941 was a lost opportunity. The acceptance of these proposals was prayerfully urged by both the American and British Ambassadors in Japan. The terms Konoye proposed would have accomplished every American purpose except possibly the return of Manchuria - and even this was thrown open to discussion. The cynic will recall that Roosevelt was willing to provoke a great war on his flank over this remote question and then gave Manchuria to Communist Russia." The Threat of Communism Herbert Hoover documents in Freedom Betrayed that American Military officials strongly urged FDR to accept the Three Months' Stand-Still Agreement offered by the Emperor of Japan in November 1941. Japan was alarmed at the threat of the Soviet Union and a 90-days delay could have kept war out of the Pacific. Secretary of War, Stimson, in his Diary, disclosed that Roosevelt and his officials were seeking for a method to stimulate an overt act of aggression from the Japanese. The Betrayal of China "Then Secretary of State, Hull, issued his foolish ultimatum and we were defeated at Pearl Harbour. By Roosevelt insisting that Chinese Premiere Chiang Kai-shek include Mao Tse-Tung's communists in a Coalition government and Roosevelt's Secret Agreement at Yalta to betray Mongolia and Manchuria to Russia, future generations were betrayed. All of China was sacrificed to the communists in the years of President Truman - at the insistence of his Left-wing advisors and General Marshall. The Second World War ended with 450 Million Asiatic peoples betrayed under communist dictatorship." (Freedom Betrayed) The Only Beneficiary was Communism Herbert Hoover in Freedom Betrayed declared: "I had warned the American people time and again against becoming involved. I stated repeatedly its only end would be to promote Communism over the earth; that we would impoverish the United States and the whole world. The situation of the world today is my vindication."
