In this world war of worldviews, words are weapons. Ideas have consequences. Terminology is not neutral.
Hypocrisy and Deceit of Pro-Choicers
“Pro-choice,” is not actually pro-choice when it comes to education. Liberal leftists normally reject the rights of those who would choose Bible-based, parental-controlled home education. Most pro-choicers tend to oppose contentious objectors amongst medical staff who chose not to use their healing skills to participate in the taking of innocent life through abortion. We have also noticed that many who proclaim themselves to be “pro-choice,” declaring “my body – my choice!” do not believe in choice when it comes to mandatory wearing of masks.
Freedom to Riot Not to Protest
Those who normally support “freedom to protest” when it involves Black Lives Matter, or Antifa, rioters looting shops, burning buildings, throwing rocks and molotov cocktails/petrol bombs at police, oppose the right of the hospitality industry to peacefully protest against unconstitutional lockdowns, or for the right of citizens to protest against draconian lockdown regulations in the name of “combatting a virus.”
Freedom of Speech Only for the Politically Correct
Many of those who claim to be for: “freedom of speech,” oppose freedom of speech on college campuses, or on social media, when it comes to pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, creation science, or those who are against unconstitutional lockdown regulations, or any other “politically incorrect” positions.
The Limits of Tolerance
Many liberals who claim to be “tolerant,” strenuously oppose any tolerance for pro-lifers, home educators, those who oppose mandatory vaccinations, refuse mandatory mask wearing, are convinced that lockdown regulations are unconstitutional, or for anyone that has a different view to that of the radical liberal left.
Suffocating Free Speech
Those who support the “Hate Speech Bill,” which does not even attempt to deal with the genuine hate-speech of Antifa, BLM, LGBTQ, communist revolutionaries and radical Islamic Jihadists. However, in the name of “combatting hate speech,” most of these liberal left radicals seek to suffocate free speech of Christians to oppose, or even question, the politically correct radical revolutionary agenda. “Corrupt and conquer.”
Promoting Racism While Pretending to Oppose Racism
To many today, “non-racism,” means promoting race politics, race quotas and race hatred. It turns out that those screaming “Racist!” the loudest are the worst racists of all.
Most Black Lives Do Not Matter to BLM
“Black Lives Matter,” is not true to its own slogan. They do not think that black lives matter in Sudan, or Congo, or Zimbabwe, or Nigeria, or in Chicago gang violence, or even in the womb, because they support abortion. BLM even went out of their way to support Kermit Gosnell, Americas worst serial killer. Apparently, most black lives do not matter to BLM! BLM appears to really stand for Burn, Loot, Murder.
Orwellian 1984 Newspeak
In George Orwell’s 1984 Novel, he warned of the coming newspeak, where words are hijacked to further the totalitarian agenda of the Revolutionaries. “War is peace!” “Ignorance is knowledge!” “Slavery is freedom!” The Ministry of Peace organises the wars. The Ministry of Love engages in torture. The Ministry of Truth distorts all media, re-writes history and deals in lies. The Ministry of Plenty, organises rationing, shortages and ensures starvation. Those who question the newspeak of Big Brother are guilty of Thought Crimes, which will be prosecuted by the Thought Police. Enemies of the revolutionary state will be “vapourised,” become “unpersons” and disappear down the “memory hole,” or be deleted and de-platformed by big tech social media platform censors.
Double Think Newspeak Deceptive Terminology
Have you noticed how Marxists call their violent riots: “protests.”
They call the murder of babies: “choice.”
They call perversion: “an alternative lifestyle.”
They call their hate speech: “politically correct.”
They call their racism: “diversity.”
They call their intolerance: “tolerance.”
They call their violence: “peace.”
They call their looting of flat screen TVs: “a protest.”!
They label your free-speech: “hate speech” and “a thought crime.”!
The only slavery that seems to matter to the radical left, is the slavery that ended two centuries ago. Opposing slavery today, in Red China, Mauretania, or Saudi Arabia, for example, is considered irrelevant and not worthy of any attention. The BLM co-founder was convicted of human trafficking. Ferguson BLM leader, Charles Wade, was arrested in 2016 for seven counts of human trafficking, including of underaged girls.
Apologists for Marxist Dictators
If you try to call attention to the desperate plight of black Zimbabweans suffering under a brutal Marxist dictatorship, you may be accused of being a “racist!”
Apologists for Abortionists
If you try to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, pre-born babies and try to advocate the right to life of pre-born babies, you will be accused of being “anti-choice!” Pro-choice is a lie. Babies do not choose to die.
You Do Not Have the Right to Choose Anything the Left Disapprove Of
“My body – my choice,” is what they shout. However, if you chose not to wear a mandatory mask, you may be accused of being guilty of a “hate crime!” Apparently, when it really is your body, you may not have a choice at all.
Repeat Radical Revolutionary Rhetoric or Else!
Anyone who disagrees with radical Revolutionary Rhetoric, may be accused of being a “far right extremist!” Those making such judgmental generalisations may be far left radical extremists, attempting to silence dissent by shouting incendiary slogans.
Selective Blindness to Real Racism
“All whites are racist!” is not normally recognised as the racist generalisation it obviously is, nor even as “judgemental”! BBBEE racial quotes in the work place and in sports is not often publicly recognised as racial discrimination, but it is.
Immune to Criticism
Nothing is their fault. Any criticism of their violent, intolerant racism, is dismissed as “racism”! The radical left is no longer willing to discuss or debate the merits of a case using facts and logic, but generally chose to shout insults and ad hominem invectives in an aggressive attempt to stifle debate and silence alternative viewpoints.
Temper Tantrum Tactics
Everything is your fault. Any attempt to respond to these generalisations and condemnations will be dismissed as “racist,” or “judgmental!” Like spoilt brats, these radicals resort to temper tantrum tactics to intimidate and bully others into compliance to their ever increasingly irrational demands.
The Liberal Gospel of Victimisation
Liberals preach the gospel of victimisation. “I am a victim!” “You are to blame!” “Nothing is my fault!”
Unravelling Leftist Rhetoric
“Previously disadvantaged,” refers to those who received subsidised housing, free medical care and free education.
“Previously advantaged,” refers to those who were over taxed to pay for free medical care, free education and subsidised housing for millions of migrants pouring into their country from “free, liberated countries,” for opportunities, freedoms and benefits they could not enjoy in their own liberated countries.
Translating Toxic Terminology
“White privilege,” refers to those who were caned at school, conscripted into the Army to protect black tribesmen from being terrorised by “freedom fighters” and taxed to aid the people they were accused of oppressing.
Inoculated Against Logic
Communists seem to be inoculated against logic. Hence, we are living in the most intolerant age, with the worst racism ever seen in history, when hate speech is most propagated by those who claim to be against hate speech and where free speech is at risk by those who claim to be for freedom!
If I say “all lives matter,” then I am condemned as a racist!
If an American stands for his country’s flag and national anthem, he has to apologise!
You are not allowed to go to church to worship, but you can burn down a church as a “protest!”
You cannot open your own business, but you can loot and destroy other people’s businesses!
The police in America are condemned as “racist pigs,”
but Antifa and BLM mobs can destroy cities because they are called “protestors!”
You cannot protest oppressive Covid-19 Lockdown regulations,
but you can riot against “racism” when you want!
You may not play with friends and family at the park, but you can destroy the park.
You are not allowed to protect your monuments and history,
but you can graffiti, vandalise and pull down national monuments!
You are not allowed to have an opinion on all these issues and if you express any opinion other than the mandated mantras of the politically correct crowd, then you are a “racist, bigot, guilty of hate speech,” who deserves abuse!
In America, you can riot with Black Lives Matter, but if you go to a Trump rally, then Covid-19 magically re-appears as a threat to public health!
The Most Deadly Virus in History
Communism is a mind virus, the most destructive force in history. Identity politics which seek to define people as a group and pits groups against one another, aims at complete state ownership of your life, where state power even supersedes the church. “Confuse, Divide and Conquer.”
Freedom Under Fire
For centuries it has been recognised that freedom of worship, freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of movement and free enterprise are absolutely essential for freedom. It is a testament to the insidious success of Cultural Marxism that all these essential foundations for Western civilisation are under relentless attack today and that any attempt to expose the inevitable consequences of these destructive tendencies are shouted down, censored and deleted from many internet platforms. “Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have practiced deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips; whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; destruction and misery are in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:13-18
Recognise and Resist Revolutionary Tactics
We need to recognise how Revolutions work. Reading, or remembering, George Orwell’s ominous warnings in Animal Farm and 1984, the writings of Aleksander Solzhenitsyn in the Gulag Archipelago and Otto Scott’s, Robespierre - Inside the French Revolution, will go a long way to helping one to understand the tactics of guilt manipulation, indoctrination, gaslighting and Stockholm Syndrome in intimidating, bullying and manipulating the masses to destroy what centuries of Christian sacrifice have so painstakingly built up.

Under the Newspeak Double Think deceptive headline: “Abortion is Health Care – this Makes it a Human Right,” published in the Daily Maverick, 14 August 2020, authored by Tlaleng Mofokeng (who is described as a United Nations Commission on Human Rights special rapporteur for physical and mental health). The Daily Maverick identifies the article as “first published in Section 27’s Abortion in Eastern and Southern Africa publication.”
Disinformation and Distortion
Just as George Orwell’s dystopian 1984 novel describes the Ministry of Truth as dealing in lies, disinformation and propaganda, the Ministry of Peace waging war, the Ministry of Love engaging in torture and the Ministry of Plenty dealing with rationing and ensuring shortages and starvation, this U.N. propaganda piece is a classic of disinformation and inverted reality.
Targeting Africa for Abortion
The fact is that abortion is recognised as the taking of an innocent life throughout almost every country in Africa, with the notable exception of ANC ruled South Africa. Every abortion stops a beating heart. Abortion is the killing of an innocent human being. Abortion leaves one dead and one wounded. All women who have had an abortion suffer severe psychological consequences. The medical tern for this is Post-Abortion Syndrome. However, according to this U.N. propagandist, all states in Africa should legalise abortion, which she describes as “reproductive health” and as a “human right!”
Condemnation of Pro-Life Countries in Africa
Evidently unconcerned about the right to life of pre-born babies, Mofokeng writes of “dignity,” “bodily integrity,” “equality,” “safety and security,” “health,…” “reproductive justice,” “freedom to choose” and condemns pro-life legislation, which outlaws abortion throughout almost every country in Africa as “oppression and discrimination,” “legalised discrimination,” “oppression of women” and singles out Malawi, Botswana and Namibia for “laws that seek to punish those who work in the abortion services…”!
Ranting Against Trump
Mofokeng also rants against president Trump’s “global gag rule,” which she identifies as “the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief,” (PEPFAR) which “forces” recipients to “be contractually bound to abandon work related to abortion provision, advocacy, law reform and information dissemination!” She then rants on about how the developing world is still trying to “recover from the damage done during the George W. Bush presidency to sexual and reproductive health rights and the provision of related service in public health systems.” Apparently, donors should not have the right to stipulate that their funds provided for health care be used for health care and not for killing babies.
Radical Rhetorical Rant Against the Right to Life
For muddying the waters, poisoning the well, weaponising words and using toxic terminology, all of this is pretty hard to beat. Mofokeng complains about “the disconnection of abortion from primary health and sexual and reproductive rights,” which she condemns as “systemic anti-choice positions!”
No Freedom of Choice to be Allowed for Conscientious Objectors
Then, ominously, U.N. propagandist Mofokeng complains about South Africa’s “Choice on Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1996” where she alleges, “many women in the country are denied access to abortion services on the grounds of moral and religious beliefs and those of health providers. There are only a few practitioners and public health facilities who provide abortion services.” Evidently, Mofokeng and the U.N. who finances her, do not tolerate conscientious objectors on moral and religious grounds and want to criminalise those doctors and nurses and other health professionals who do not want to pervert their healing profession by taking innocent lives through the violence of abortion.
Serious Threat to Criminalise Pro-Life Doctors and Nurses
This article is an ominous warning of a new concerted effort to not only stigmatise those countries that seek to protect the most innocent life of all from the violence and injustice of abortion, but to criminalise Christian and other pro-life doctors and nurses and other health professionals from their right to choose to be conscientious objectors in such a highly controversial matter as abortion.
Stand Up and Speak Out for the Right to Life
Mofokeng urges her readers to “achieve the United Nation’s sustainable development goals,” by removing all obstructions to, what she calls, “sexual and reproductive health care,” which is a euphemistic term for killing pre-born babies. It is absolutely vital that we speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, that we have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. “Who will rise up for Me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for Me against the workers of iniquity?” Psalm 94:16

Life Chain – What Difference Can I Make?
When Nelson Mandela was president, he summoned me to the president’s mansion. This was in response to the massive protest marches I had mobilised to parliament against his policies promoting pornography, perversion and abortion. We spent an hour, openly discussing our concerns for the direction he was taking the country. I challenged him directly over the legalisation of vices, such as: gambling, prostitution, pornography and, most seriously of all, abortion. Mr Mandela warmly shook my hand and congratulated me for my honesty and forthrightness in speaking straight. He declared: "I am glad to meet an honest white man!" He declared that he would always be open to my concerns and that his door would always be open to me. I have no animosity for Nelson Mandela. I prayed with him and have regularly prayed for him, sincerely. To see a video regarding my Meeting with Mandela, click here and here.
We Have a duty Before Almighty God
As a Christian and Minister of the Gospel, it is my duty before Almighty God to oppose abortion, pornography, prostitution, perversion, homosexual marriages, human trafficking and idolatry. Nelson Mandela has now been turned into a multi-billion Dollar industry and I am sure that all who are aware of it are sickened by the sight of all the media vultures and the legal squabbles over his fortune and brand names.
With the incredible mass marketing campaign and international idolatry surrounding the Mandela myth and legend, shepherds of the flock must speak out. We are seeing the making of a new religion and it is dangerous to the souls of those who get swept up into Mandelamania.
Like every other personality cult, whether worshipping the pharaohs of Egypt, or the chairman of the Communist Party in the Soviet Union, or worshipping Hollywood idols, sports idols, or music idols, all idolatry is an offense before God and a snare to our souls. (See: The Most Condemned Sin in Scripture.)
However, anyone who says such things is subjected to accusations of "racism!" There is no need for anyone to say anything more about apartheid when it has been dead and gone for over two decades. My opposition to apartheid was vocal and clear when it was the ruling ideology in our country. Our Mission has been a multi-racial Mission from the very beginning. Our very first Frontline Fellowship camp in Somerset West, was broken up and we were evicted for being a multi-racial group! You can read my book: Renaissance or Reformation and other publications that deal with the time when apartheid was relevant. However, it takes no courage to kick a dead dog.
Confronting the Cultural War
The issues at this time are secular humanism, attacks on marriage and the family, attacks on historic monuments and radical Islam and, in this case, the Mandela myth and cult. When Elijah was condemning Baal worship on Mount Carmel, he did not list any of the positive aspects of the false prophets of Baal, or of Baal, or Asherah worship. None of the Gospel writers listed any of the positive achievements of Pontius Pilate, or of Caesar of Rome. Is there any need for us to add to the incredible mythology and extravagant claims of the Mandela mythmaking media?
Is Freedom of Speech Still Allowed?
Opposing one evil does not suggest that one supports the alternative evil. I have dedicated over 38 years to Missions, serving persecuted Black Christians in Restricted Access Areas throughout Africa, at risk of my life, in some of the most dangerous war zones of Sudan, Rwanda, the Congo, Northern Nigeria, Mozambique, Angola and Zimbabwe.
The Great Commission is our Supreme Ambition
If you have been receiving our Frontline Fellowship e-mailings you will notice that most of our articles deal with speaking up for the persecuted Church, proclaiming the Gospel, Missionary concerns, Biblical Worldview issues, Reformation, Revival and contemporary issues.
A Call for Courage and Relevance
At this particular time, deluged as we are with Marxist propaganda and Mandela mythology, a Biblical response is essential. To be silent on such a prominent movement would be dereliction of duty to the Lord.
The Mandela Cult
In recent years, we have been inundated, indeed, deluged with the most extreme marketing of the personality cult of Nelson Mandela. Particularly in the lead up to 18 July, which the UN has declared International Nelson Mandela Day, many believers requested a response from our Mission.
The Sin of Silence
It would be hard to imagine that the prophets of the Old Testament, such as Elijah, or Daniel, could have been silent in the face of such blatant idolatry that we are seeing in our time. Nor could we imagine that the Church Fathers, or the Reformers, could have remained silent had they been confronted by such manifestations of the making of a new religion.
The Curse of Cowardice
A shepherd must feed his sheep and he must protect them from wolves. Those who, for their own purposes, are seeking to make an icon and idol out of Nelson Mandela and other celebrity cults, need to be exposed and opposed.
Worship God Alone
God, our Creator and Eternal Judge is the only One who deserves our worship, praise and adoration. No one is good except God alone. No Christian can, in good conscience, participate in idolatry. Yet we are seeing our schools being instructed by the Ministry of Education to indoctrinate the school children in this personality cult and to participate in the singing of hymns of praise to a politician. Like with the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997, there is a real danger in idolising a human being. We many not offer worship to anyone but our Creator. We need to see the seriousness of the situation. Out of sincere concern for God's honour and for the souls of people who are being led astray, we need to speak up graciously, but firmly, that God alone deserves our worship.
Do You Love Mandela?
Some have asked me: Do you love Mandela and do you pray for him? The answer is: Yes! I do love Nelson Mandela Biblically, in action. Of course, I love our Lord Jesus Christ more.
Have You Shown Love in Action to Mandela?
I spent an hour with Nelson Mandela when he was president, discussing with him the Scriptures and I challenged him concerning his policies and his personal relationship with the Lord. I also prayed with him. I wrote to him on a number of occasions. To oppose idolatry is a Biblical command. It is not loving to fail to warn of the dangers of idolatry.
Do You Hate God?
The Second Commandment is the only Commandment where God implies that those who break it hate him. To worship a false God, to make anything, or anyone, more important than God, to present praise, adoration, or worship, to any other than the Creator and Eternal Judge is the greatest sin of all.
The Most Condemned Sin in the Bible
Throughout the Bible commandments and warnings against idolatry are the most repeated of all. There are more denunciations of idolatry than any other sin in the Bible.
What Have You Done to Win Africa to Christ?
I have devoted my life to Missions. I have spent most of the last 38 years of my life sharing the Gospel, distributing hundreds-of-thousands of Bibles and millions of Gospel booklets and tracts throughout Africa, energetically seeking to win Africa for Christ. “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

Resistance to Revolution
The recent church attack at Centurion, 26 July 2020, came just a day after the anniversary of the St. James Massacre, 25 July 1993. The prompt action of an armed member of the congregation prevented a similar tragedy. Armed citizens can save lives. Unarmed citizens often become helpless victims.
“But if anyone does not provide for his own and especially for those of his household, he has denied the Faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
1 Timothy 5:8
During times of crime, violence, instability and increasing threats against Christians worldwide, it is necessary to be prepared. Many churches are instituting security ministries,
“…Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives and your houses.”
How prepared are you for crisis situations? Christians should wisely anticipate danger and make provision to deal with potential threats.
“A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.”
We are not to fear the future. We are to fear God alone. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of sound mind. We are warned to plan for the future and to prepare ourselves for adversity.
“For man also does not know his time: Like fish taken in a cruel net, like birds caught in a snare, so the sons of men are snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly upon them.”
It was not raining when Noah built the Ark. To be mentally, emotionally and practically prepared for adversity and to cultivate situational awareness, is essential.
“If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”
The Law of God is clear: “If the thief is found breaking in and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed.”
When terrorists attacked the St. James congregation in Cape Town, 25 July 1993, a Frontline Fellowship missionary, Charl van Wyk, shot back, wounding the terrorists who were machine-gunning the congregation, cutting short their attack. The Police Commissioner commended Charl’s prompt and courageous action which he said, doubtless, saved many lives.
On 29 December 2019, a man armed with his shotgun, entered West Freeway Church of Christ in Texas. He shot two church members before a Deacon on the church security team shot the attacker, ending the attack. The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, publicly commended the prompt action of the church member who neutralised the threat and saved many lives by his accurate reaction.
“Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence.”
With increasing attacks on churches in Nigeria, Egypt, Iraq, Kenya and Tanzania, it is important for Christians to take practical precautions to defend their families and congregations. For this reason, I produced the Security and Survival Handbook, drawing from 4 decades of experience serving Persecuted Churches, working in 38 countries and involved in 8 different wars. This looks at case studies, Biblical principles and practical strategies to save lives and protect our loved ones.
The right to life is in our Bill of Rights. Citizens have the right to be armed and to take reasonable precautions against clear and present dangers. Locking church doors during worship services, having security gates, assigning individuals for security duties, practising situational awareness, laminating windows, placing a grid over some windows to make it difficult to throw a fire-bomb, or grenade, through a vulnerable window, are just some of the practical security measures, congregations can consider where appropriate.

We are living in a world war of worldviews. The Bible warns us: “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of the world rather than on Christ.” Colossians 2:8
Everyone is influenced by a worldview. Whether consciously or unconsciously, whether consistently or inconsistently, everyone is influenced by a worldview, their set of presuppositions and assumptions (which may be true, partially true or false).
Our worldview consists of those sets of beliefs and presuppositions, which we hold about basic realities of our world. Our worldview determines our values, influences how we think and therefore guides how we live.
THE BASIC QUESTIONS OF LIFE
Our worldview needs to answer the basic questions of life:
THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW
By way of contrast, Humanism is a religion that deifies man – and dethrones God. Francis Schaefer defined Humanism as: “The placing of man at the centre of all things and making him the measure of all things.”
Alexander Solzhenitsyn describes Humanism as: “The proclaimed and practiced autonomy of man from any higher force above him.”
One can recognise the Humanist agenda in many films, articles and books:
The results of Humanism are written all over the pages of recent history: the revolutions, the massacres and totalitarianism of the Communist East; the permissiveness and decadence of the democratic West; the pornography plague, the drug epidemic, the crime explosion, the escalating inflation, the abortion holocaust and the AIDS and STDs pandemics, these are just some of the inevitable results of the moral anarchy of Humanism.
“Why do the nations rage and the people plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His anointed One: Let us break their chains, they say and throw off their fetters. The One enthroned in Heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then He rebukes them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath saying: I have installed My King on Zion, My holy hill…Therefore you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear…” Psalm 2:1-11
Animism is spirit worship. It has been heavily promoted by some Hollywood films such as Pocahontas and Brother Bear. Animism is the primary religion of millions of tribal people scattered throughout Africa, New Guinea, the Pacific Islands, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, India and Japan. Elements of basic Animism are also adhered to by many nominal Muslims, Buddhists and “Christians”.
Animism involves Necrolatry, the worship of the souls of the dead. Tribal people tend to regard the departed ancestors as part of the clan and fear the harm that the departed can do to the living. They especially fear that those who died unnaturally will come back to haunt them. Animism involves spirit worship, believing in the existence of personal spirits or demons, as well as impersonal spiritual forces in nature, which inhabit the earth, the air, fire, water, trees, mountains and animal life. Life for the Animist is dominated by a host of taboos and rituals to placate the spirits.
Animism involves naturism, the personification and worship of the forces of nature. For example the worship of the sun in Ancient Egypt, the sacred cow of the Hindus in India and the sacred mountain of Shintoism in Japan. Naturism normally involves polytheism (the worship of many gods) and idolatry. In nature worship, rituals and sacrifices are intended to guarantee fertility. Human sacrifices are an extreme example of this.
Animism involves totemism, (“Brother – Sister – Kin”) emphasizing the unity of the clan with some sacred plant or animal.
Animism involves fetishism (the superstitious belief that there is some spiritual energy or force in charms, amulets or fetishes). Normally witchdoctors are involved as Shamans, “expert mediators” who know the proper incantations and sacrifices at times of sickness and disasters to placate “the spirits.” The witch doctors use imitative magic to bring harm to an enemy by attacking a representation of him (such as a voodoo doll!) or contagious magic which utilizes some hair clipping, nail paring, sweat, spit, or faeces to bring a curse on an individual. The blood of an animal (or a person) may be drunk in order to gain the strength of that animal or (in the case of cannibalism) person.
Animism is characterized by the absence of real love and hope. There are no moral absolutes (sin is seen as the violation of culture, custom and spirit forces rather than any personal ethical transgression). The whole of life is pervaded with and governed by, fear. Animism is pervaded by fatalism and a sense of helplessness in the face of external forces.
Heathenism does not deny God as much as ignore Him by worshipping natural forces and mysterious demon powers through magical ceremonies and sacrifices.
“When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorceror, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. For these nations which you will dispossess listen to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not appointed such for you.” Deuteronomy 18:10-14
EVALUATING ANYONE’S WORLDVIEW
To evaluate anyone’s worldview, we need to ask the following general questions about any film producer, scriptwriter, director, author, journalist or anyone else:
We can also ask certain specific questions:
WHY WE THINK AS WE DO
RECOGNISING HUMANISM IN THE MEDIA AND IN TEXTBOOKS
Secular Humanism says: “There is no God to save us; we must save ourselves!”
Post-modernism says: “There is no absolute truth; we must create our own!”
New Age thought says: “There is no God; I am my own god!”
HUMANISM IS SELF DESTRUCTIVE
“At first the temptation is to see mankind as God. Then it becomes us as god. And finally it is me as god. So the progression moves from the worship of man, to the worship of us, to the worship of me. In the end all anthropolators become I – dolaters. ‘I am god!’ Like little anti-Christs that exalt to magnify themselves in the temple of their minds.” – Dr. David Noebel
“But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength…” Isaiah 40:31
“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
